Shastri
Shakta tradition, Shukla Yajurveda, Madhyandina shakha; Shakta upasana in the Durga Saptashati tradition. He has practised in Ahmedabad for 23 years.
The person
He studied Karmakanda at a pathashala in Vadnagar and took Shakta diksha from his maternal grandfather, who conducted the Chandi path for households across north Gujarat for forty years. His own work follows the same shape: the Durga Saptashati read in full through Navratri, the Chandi havan for families who keep it annually, and Lakshmi pujan through the Diwali week, when he takes bookings from the first day of Aso vad. He is unusually strict about the count in a path and will refuse a booking rather than compress a Saptashati into an afternoon. Gujarati families settled in London and New Jersey now make up about a third of his Navratri calendar.
Where he stands
The school a pandit belongs to and the shakha he was trained in decide the order of the vidhi and the sound of the recitation. Both are stated rather than assumed.
Sampradaya
Shakta
Worship centred on the Devi. The Durga Saptashati and the Chandi rites belong to this line, and its paddhati differs from the Smarta order in ways a family used to one will notice in the other.
Lineage
Shukla Yajurveda, Madhyandina shakha; Shakta upasana in the Durga Saptashati tradition
This lineage was confirmed in writing by his pathashala and vouched for by senior purohits who have practised alongside him. What was examined, and on what date, is set out under Verification.
Verification
Each check below was carried out by our team against a document or a person who could confirm it. A check is dated because a check from three years ago is a different claim from one made last month.
Aadhaar and PAN were checked against the name on his bank account, and a live video selfie was matched to both documents by our onboarding team.
30 Oct 2025
His Madhyandina adhyayana was confirmed by the Vadnagar pathashala register, and two Ahmedabad purohits who have shared a Chandi havan vedi with him vouched for the Shakta diksha he names.
12 Nov 2025
He recited the Kavach, Argala and Kilaka and the first two charitras of the Durga Saptashati before a three-member review panel, which assessed svara, the nyasa sequence and the traditional order of the havan ahutis.
8 Dec 2025
He completed a recorded rehearsal from his puja room in Paldi: a fixed wide angle, a second angle over the havan kund, a lapel microphone, and an uplink measured at 9 Mbps sustained over an hour.
22 Jan 2026
A police verification certificate from the Ahmedabad city commissionerate dated 6 February 2026 was received, along with references from two trader families whose Diwali chopda pujan he has conducted since 2009.

Expertise
Specialities are the families of rite he has trained and practised in, not everything the catalogue offers.
Languages
The mantras themselves are recited in Sanskrit whoever performs them. What the list above changes is the language the sankalp is taken in, and the language the rite is explained in as it proceeds — which is the part a family follows.
Rites
Each one states its vidhi, its samagri and what differs between tiers before you commit to anything.
Lakshmi
दीपावली लक्ष्मी पूजनम्
Kept on the Amavasya of Kartik, in the pradosh hours after sunset, when the house is lit end to end and the year’s ledgers are placed before the altar.
Navagraha
नवग्रह शान्ति हवन
A nine-square vedi is laid in coloured grain, each graha is invoked in its own place, and the ahuti are offered with the nine prescribed woods — arka for Surya through kusha for Ketu.
Durga
दुर्गासप्तशती
Seven hundred verses across thirteen chapters, from the Markandeya Purana, recited in three charitras with the Navarna mantra.
Hanuman
कुजदोषशान्ति
The traditional observance kept when Mars occupies one of the bhavas that the matching texts mark. Its themes are patience with others, and the steadying of a strong temperament.
Lakshmi
कुबेर-लक्ष्मी पूजा
Lakshmi is worshipped with the full sixteen upachar and Kubera is invoked in the north, on his yantra, beside the place where the household or firm keeps its accounts.
Durga
चण्डी होम
The seven hundred verses of the Durga Saptashati are recited and offered into fire. Families keep it at Navratri, and at thresholds where a household wants to act together.
Ganesha
नवव्यापारारम्भ पूजा
Performed on the day a new shop, office or workshop opens. Ganesha is invoked first, then Lakshmi and Saraswati at the seat where the work will actually be done.

Nine days, same time every morning, no day skipped. When I asked whether we could shorten the last two days because of a family function, Shastriji said no and explained why the count matters in this path. I respected that more than if he had agreed. He also told us in advance exactly how much ghee and how many aasan we would need, so nothing ran out.

We keep the Chandi havan every year for my late father and cannot always fly down. Shastriji did it at Ahmedabad on our behalf and held the stream steady for the whole three hours. He read out our gotra and all our names at the sankalp, including my daughter's, which she had asked about specifically. The certificate and the photographs arrived the next morning.

Done at our new shop on the muhurat we were given. He was clear that the puja is a traditional beginning and made no claims beyond that, which I mention because two other pandits we spoke to did. Work was neat and he cleaned the kund himself before leaving. One star off only because he could not come until the second date we proposed.

Guided by Video

He guided our chopda pujan over video from Ahmedabad while it was past midnight for him. The whole thing was in Gujarati, which is what my parents wanted, and he switched to English for a few minutes when my son asked what the shubh-labh writing meant. Practical too: he told us which of the samagri we could safely leave out here rather than pretending everything was essential.
