Vedamurti
Smarta tradition, Rigveda, Shakala shakha. He has practised in Pune for 19 years.
The person
He took the Vedamurti title after eight years at a pathashala in Pune, and served his apprenticeship in Vastu Shanti and Griha Pravesh work with a senior guruji in Nashik. Marathi families across Pune and Mumbai know him for house rituals: he walks through the rooms first, notes the direction of the kitchen and the main door, and only then settles the muhurat with the family. For households that have moved abroad he does the same walk over a video call a week ahead, and sends a written note of what he observed. He recites in Sanskrit and explains in Marathi or Hindi, whichever the elders in the room prefer.
Where he stands
The school a pandit belongs to and the shakha he was trained in decide the order of the vidhi and the sound of the recitation. Both are stated rather than assumed.
Sampradaya
Smarta
Advaita in doctrine, following Adi Shankara. Rites use the panchayatana form, in which five deities are honoured as aspects of one reality, so a Smarta purohit ordinarily performs across the whole range of household rites.
Lineage
Rigveda, Shakala shakha
This lineage was confirmed in writing by his pathashala and vouched for by senior purohits who have practised alongside him. What was examined, and on what date, is set out under Verification.
Verification
Each check below was carried out by our team against a document or a person who could confirm it. A check is dated because a check from three years ago is a different claim from one made last month.
Aadhaar and driving licence were checked against his bank account name; a live video selfie was matched to both documents.

Expertise
Specialities are the families of rite he has trained and practised in, not everything the catalogue offers.
Languages
The mantras themselves are recited in Sanskrit whoever performs them. What the list above changes is the language the sankalp is taken in, and the language the rite is explained in as it proceeds — which is the part a family follows.
Rites
Each one states its vidhi, its samagri and what differs between tiers before you commit to anything.
Ganesha
विवाह संस्कार
The Vedic wedding rite. Two families are joined before Agni, and the couple walks the saptapadi — the seven steps that complete the marriage.
Vishnu
श्री सत्यनारायण व्रत कथा
A household vrat kept most often on Purnima or a sankranti, in which the sankalp is taken first and the katha is then read aloud in five chapters before the family.
Ganesha
गृहप्रवेश संस्कार
The first entry into a new home — the kalash carried across the threshold, the dwar puja at the main door, and milk set to boil over on the new hearth.
Ganesha
वास्तुशान्ति होम
Performed before or alongside griha pravesh. The vastu purusha mandala is drawn, the directional guardians are named, and the fire is offered at the centre of the house.
Hanuman
कुजदोषशान्ति
The traditional observance kept when Mars occupies one of the bhavas that the matching texts mark. Its themes are patience with others, and the steadying of a strong temperament.
Ganesha
माङ्गल्य शान्ति
A shanti performed for a married couple — before the wedding where the charts show Mangal dosha, or later on an anniversary or a milestone year.
Shiva
कालसर्पदोषनिवारणम्
The observance kept when every graha falls on one side of the Rahu and Ketu axis. Nag puja, Rudrabhishek and the Sarpa Sukta are its three parts.

Guruji came to see the flat four days before the puja and walked every room with my father. He suggested a slightly later muhurat because of the direction of our main door and explained why in plain Marathi. On the day he brought his own samidha and the whole thing finished in two and a half hours.

We had booked someone else who cancelled the night before. Guruji took the booking at short notice and still arrived with everything prepared. He kept the havan short because our society has a two-hour rule for the terrace, and he told us that upfront rather than after.

My mother was anxious after reading about this online. Guruji spent the first fifteen minutes of the call simply explaining what the classification means in the texts and what it does not, and that settled her. The guided puja itself was straightforward. Audio dropped twice on our side.

He conducted my daughter's wedding. Before the mangalashtak he explained each vow in Marathi to the couple so that they knew what they were agreeing to. The mandap ran to time and he handled two sets of relatives with different customs without any friction.

Rites performed on your behalf in India are done at Trimbakeshwar Temple, Nashik. A Jyotirlinga at the foot of the Brahmagiri hill in Nashik district, beside the Kushavarta kund from which the Godavari is traditionally reckoned to rise. The black basalt temple standing today was built in the middle of the eighteenth century under the Peshwa Balaji Bajirao. The lingam here is unusual: three small faces set within a hollow, read in the local tradition as Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Purohits of Trimbakeshwar are known across Maharashtra for the ancestral rites and dosha-shanti observances conducted on the Kushavarta ghat.
