The person
He completed Ghanapatha in the Krishna Yajurveda at a Veda pathashala in Tirupati and then spent nine years assisting archakas on the hill before he began taking private bookings. Families come to him for Vishnu Sahasranama jaap and for the Satyanarayan Katha, which he reads in Telugu and glosses line by line in English. He works regularly with households in Singapore, Sydney and the Bay Area, and asks for gotra, nakshatra and the family deity a full week ahead so that nothing has to be settled in a hurry on the morning itself.

The school a pandit belongs to and the shakha he was trained in decide the order of the vidhi and the sound of the recitation. Both are stated rather than assumed.

A household vrat kept most often on Purnima or a sankranti, in which the sankalp is taken first and the katha is then read aloud in five chapters before the family.
Lakshmi
नित्य लक्ष्मी अर्चना
A short daily rite — the Sri Suktam, the hundred and eight names with kumkum, and a lamp lit at the threshold at dusk.
Vishnu
विष्णुसहस्रनाम
The thousand names of Vishnu from the Anushasana Parva of the Mahabharata, recited with tulsi archana on Ekadashi and Saturdays.
Ganesha
नामकरण संस्कार
Performed on the eleventh or twelfth day after birth. The child is shown the sun, the janma nakshatra gives the first syllable, and the name is spoken into the ear before it is announced.
Ganesha
अन्नप्राशन संस्कार
The first solid food, given between the sixth and eighth month. Kheer is offered to the deity, then placed on the child's tongue by an elder.
Lakshmi
कुबेर-लक्ष्मी पूजा
Lakshmi is worshipped with the full sixteen upachar and Kubera is invoked in the north, on his yantra, beside the place where the household or firm keeps its accounts.
Ganesha
नवव्यापारारम्भ पूजा
Performed on the day a new shop, office or workshop opens. Ganesha is invoked first, then Lakshmi and Saraswati at the seat where the work will actually be done.

We asked for the jaap on my mother's birth nakshatra. Acharya sent a short voice note the night before confirming the gotra and the nakshatra, which reassured my mother more than anything else. The stream started exactly at the stated time and the recording was in our email by lunch.

Booked for the opening of our second shop. The vidhi was done properly and he sent photographs of each stage. He was careful to say that the puja is a traditional beginning and nothing more, which I respected. Booking support took a day to answer my reschedule request, though.
